'Only Time Will Tell' is a unique collaboration, a coming together of two generations of American and British roots music.
At it's centre are two compelling musicians, Ian Gomm and Jeb Loy Nicols
Ian Gomm has spent the last 35 years making superbly crafted records, first with seminal British pub rock band Brinsley Schwarz and then as a solo artist, scoring top ten hits in America with 'Hold On'. He wrote 'Cruel To Be Kind' with Nick Lowe and has produced, engineered and played with The Stranglers, Dave Edmunds. and Alexis Korner. He's been called, by The New Musican Express, 'Britains best rhythm guitarist'.Br>
Jeb Loy Nicols grew up in the American mid-west and has, over the past ten years, released CD's. His slow burning country soul has won fans from Nashville to Berlin. He compiled the hit series of CDs 'Country Got Soul' and has played with Shelby Lynne, Delbert McClinton, Richard Thompson and Lucinda Williams. He's been called by Rolling Stone, 'the high priest of country cool'.
Together they've made a deceptively simple CD that effortlessly weaves together soul, folk, country, and jazz. It features new interpretations of songs by Bobby Womack, Jim Ford, Curtis Mayfield, and Clover, alongside originals by both Gomm and Nicols
The CD was recorded in the Welsh hills in free flowing spontaneous sessions, and then sent to Nashville where it was mixed by David Ferguson (who recorded and mixed with Johnny Cash sessions for Rick Rubin).
The players, who pursued a 'less is more' approach throughout include Clive Gregson (Any Trouble, Richard Thompson,Nancy Griffith). Pat McInerney (Nancy Griffith, Don WIlliams) and Andy Hamill (Natasha Atlas, Cara Dillon, 4 Hero, Carleen Anderson).
